The Birds in the Balcony gives a glimpse of the antics and life cycle of the olive-backed sunbirds (Cinnyris jugularis), as observed by the author, and retold through the eyes of two children living in a high-rise building in the nature city of Singapore.
Olive-backed sunbirds are the most common sunbirds found in Singapore. Their habit of building their nests and raising their chicks in close proximity to human dwellings have intrigued both the young and old.
